Hospiscare Does Dartmoor in a Day

30k challenge, race, jog or walk 6th September 2025.

Walk moor miles for your local hospice and help raise vital funds.

This September, your local hospice charity, Hospiscare is asking local businesses to invest in their people, test their metal and support end-of-life care across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, by taking on a challenge with a difference. One that will develop your teamworking skills, cultivate trust and communication, hone your competitive spirit and encourage you to break down barriers and achieve something incredible.

Enter….Dartmoor in a Day.

Starting at Postbridge and finishing in Ivybridge, you’ll trek 30km across wild and rugged Dartmoor. Highlights along the way include Bellever Tor, West Dart stepping stones, Ryder’s Hill, a clapper bridge over the upper Avon river, the Dartmoor “Volcano” and stunning views along the Erme valley and out to sea.

Maps can be downloaded for use with the Outdoor Active app but Climb South West recommend using this alongside OL 28 Dartmoor (1:25,000) or BMC Dartmoor (1:40,000) maps. A GPX file will also be available for those that would like to use GPS. Full information on mandatory and suggested kit will be in your participant handbooks, provided by Climb South West.

And you’ll have an opportunity to get a head start by nominating your own Team Leader and Deputy to attend a Navigation Workshop in June, prior to the event!

While cut-off times at the final checkpoint are very generous, it’s a race against the clock – and the other businesses taking part! Transport to the end of the event will be available if anyone doesn’t manage to complete the distance.

This challenge is achievable by anyone with a good level of walking/running fitness and you will be supported by qualified Mountain Leaders with extensive experience and knowledge of Dartmoor. The role of these leaders is to act as mobile marshals and to assist you with route choice between checkpoints. You are welcome to walk or run with them for all or part of your journey but there is no obligation to do so.

There is free parking available at Ivybridge Community College, where the route will finish.
For an additional cost, you are welcome to park at the finish line and take the shuttle coach service to the start point at Postbridge.

Your entry fee includes GPS tracker hire.
